About the role

Your primary objectives will be:
 

  • In the first instance, manage all aspects of the development, delivery and coordination of the Bachelor of Enterprise Learning and assure the quality of the program.
  • Teach in the Bachelor of Enterprise Learning and across the higher education (HE) portfolio in the Faculty of Further Education in accordance with identified areas of expertise.
  • Make a substantial contribution to the growth of the higher education department in the Faculty and HE programs at NMIT.
  • Provide leadership in scholarly, applied research and professional activities relevant to the profession, discipline and community.

Salary
 
Lecturer Level B or Lecturer Level C with a salary range of $79,437 - $112,200 per annum.

Note that service with publicly funded Australian Universities is recognised for long service and sick leave purposes.

About the Role:
The School Focused Youth Service Coordinator is situated within MacKillop’s Education Services, which is in partnership with Melbourne City Mission to achieve better outcomes for vulnerable and disadvantaged young people in engaging with education. The position will be instrumental in promoting cross-sector collaboration and will aim to improve the integration of support and intervention services for ‘at-risk’ young people aged between 10 to 18 years.   The role will also be responsible in the coordination and facilitation of community based services to support the young people in remaining engaged or re-engage with education.  This is a fixed-term contract, based across the Mooney Valley and Melbourne/Maribyrnong areas. 
 
To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in community development and working within school systems and community organisations;
  • Relevant experience in the provision of services to students and families, particularly to those at-risk;
  • Exceptional communication and networking skills and an ability to motivate a wide range of people;
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and an ability to apply them in needs assessment program planning and development;
  • Relevant tertiary level degree in Community Development, Education, Social Work and/or any other related discipline.

The role would suit someone with a proven track record leading and implementing community projects involving this diverse community.
Pay and conditions as per the Neighbourhood Houses and Adult Community Education Centres Collective Agreement 2010, Social and Community Services Federal Award, Community Development SACS Class III Level 7 (up to 3rd year depending on experience).   This is an equivalent full-time salary of up to $62,000 (pro rata) for the person with the right qualifications and experience.

The Brotherhood of St Laurence is recruiting for Education Program Teachers to facilitate the delivery of a high quality, exciting, community-based, applied learning program to meet the literacy, numeracy and personal development needs of young people in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.
 
As a member of a small team you will develop and deliver an innovative VCAL curriculum that is to be delivered within the framework of social and emotional learning.  The role will require you to  undertake professional development along with the rest of the team, to ensure the focus of delivery is social and emotional literacy through the vehicle of the VCAL curriculum.  The role will include networking with other youth services, schools and local business to build a whole-of-community approach making a difference in the lives of the young people in our local community.
 
Time is allocated to prepare and plan for class delivery, as well as for working with the Education Program team to ensure we meet the strategic expectations of both our Education Program and the Brotherhood of St. Laurence.
 
There will be adequate support provided in the class from our Education Support Officer and skilled volunteers.  The teaching team and students will be further supported by the wellbeing officer, youth support officer and the pathways and transitions staff member.
 
You will also have the opportunity of contributing to the work of the BSL's Research and Policy Centre through its continuing research. The evidence generated through this research will enrich the Brotherhood’s ability to advocate for integrated education and support approaches to meet the needs of young people who don’t thrive in mainstream education.
 
The position is Part-Time 0.9 EFT working nine days per fortnight and contracted until the end of December 2014. The position may be extended subject to the availability of further funding.
